Kensington 64032 Master Lock Universal Notebook Security Cable (Black)

What could be simpler than securing your laptop with a cable lock? I bought this product about a year ago and am still trying to figure out how to get it to work. I am able to 'lock' and 'unlock' the unit easily by itself, but it just will not lock when I insert it into the slot on my laptop. The pin looks non-standard when compared to some of the cable locks I have seen before, and does not turn when inside the slot.
